Following the BIJI & Jugglerz release of Chopi in February, BIJI is back with “Wey Wey”; this time pairing up with German rapper ENO and producers 2sick. Connecting on their mutual Kurdish heritage, BIJI and ENO come together on the hip hop single, mixing German, Kurdish, and “Engelizi” (English with a Kurdish accent) lyrics. “Wey wey” is an expression said in Kurdistan when one wants to emphasize something; in this case the admiration for a beautiful Kurdish girl.
Directed by Maceo Frost and produced by BWGTBLD, the music video starts in a run-down internet cafe in Duhok bazaar, nestled in the depths of Kurdistan where BIJI manages to hack and interrupt a Twitch livestream featuring ENO and his crew. The motive? To propose a collaboration and ask ENO if he’s up for creating a banger.
ENO accepts, and from there, the streets of Kurdistan mesh into those of Germany- with the newly formed duo uniting in Berlin for a legendary collaboration.
“Wey Wey” follows the release of BIJI’s single Chopi, which was created with the renowned German producer crew Jugglerz. The single serves as the last before the anticipated debut album release, due in mid-June.
True to BIJI style with Maceo Frost as one half of the duo, the music video offers incredible visuals, this time with a unique view of Kurdistan itself and an insider look at the streets of Berlin.
